Seriously, how long has it been since you had comfort knowing the Patriots secondary could stop an opposition’s drive late in a game when it mattered? Well, I’ll tell you this, Ty Law left the New England Patriots in 2004. Since 2004, there have been 8 NFL drafts, approximately 60 draft picks, many of which, for the Patriots, have been in the early rounds of the draft. Sixty picks, and not a single shut-down corner. Not a single member of the secondary that strikes fear in the heart of their opponents. Pathetic.

Now I know if the Patriots punched it in before the half, before Bledsoe, er I mean Brady, intentionally grounded the ball and ran out the clock, we’re probably looking at a different outcome. But you can’t, I repeat you can’t overlook just how bad this secondary is. Don’t confuse a decent performance against Manning anything more than a bad day by Manning.

Someone needs to be held accountable. Whether it’s Belichick himself, the corners coach, the defensive coordinator, or the safeties coach, heads need to roll. Big plays are being let-up that players learn how to defend in high school. At this rate, 9-7 would be a bonus.
